North
Devon Finer Gardens was established in 2008 by Simon
Mountjoy who has gained considerable experience working in a number
of internationally renowned botanical gardens and arboretums. This
experience and his knowledge of plants and their requirements can
help you realise your dream of the perfect garden, be it big or
small.
After
gaining an H.N.D. in Horticulture from Bicton College, Devon, Simon
went on to train at the Sir Harold Hillier Gardens in Hampshire.
The year-long training programme covered all aspects of horticulture
including time spent working at the University of Oxford Botanic
Garden. After the initial year he spent another two years at the
gardens as a full-time employee and was eventually given the responsibility
of looking after a four-acre section of the gardens. In 2004 he
set out from England to embark on a year-long work experience tour
of New Zealand which was sponsored by the R.H.S. During that time
he worked in several top horticultural institutions including Christchurch
Botanic Garden, Dunedin Botanic Garden, and Eastwood Hill Arboretum.
In addition to his work experience in New Zealand he has been on
two study trips to Japan. Whilst there he spent time visiting Japanese
gardens and studying their style of horticulture. Both study trips
were funded by the R.H.S.
Prior
to
setting up his own business "Finer Gardens", he was in
charge of running a small private estate near Tiverton.
So
if you are looking for a horticulturist with an in-depth knowledge
of plants and their requirements who can skilfully maintain your
long-nurtured garden then contact Simon to discuss your project
today.
In
addition to a wide range of standard gardening services and soft
